DIWC SCHOLARSHIP FAQs
WHOIS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
All applicants must:
Be a women of color but not limited to Black or African-American, Native American, Hispanic/
Latina and Asian.
Must be a student and attend college or university in the United States.
Must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
Accepted to study abroad program (international internship is included).
WHERE CAN I ACCESS THE DIWC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION?

WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP?
All applications must have a personal statement, proof of study abroad program acceptance
letter, unofficial transcript (we must receive your official transcript if you are a recipient) and a
letter of recommendation.
WHO CAN WRITE A RECOMMENDATION LETTER FOR ME?
The recommendation must be written by a teacher, counselor, spiritual leader, employer or other
individual, as long as he or she is not related to you. The person writing your recommendation
must be able to describe how they know you and support the information you have provided in
your scholarship application. The recommendation letter must be attached with your application, if not you will not be considered.
I LIVE OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES. CAN I APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?
At this time, this scholarship is only available to students enrolled at U.S. institutions. In addition, all applicants must reside in the U.S.

All completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on the deadline date. Applicants are responsible for verifying that all materials have been submitted.
HOW ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDS DETERMINED?
The DIWC Scholarship Committee reviews all of the applications, which are scored based on GPA, personal statement and letter of recommendation.
HOW MUCH ARE THE SCHOLARSHIPS?
Each DIWC recipient will receive $500 (in-person). The money can be used for tuition, book, supplies and personal expenses for your study abroad trip.
HOW WILL WINNERS BE NOTIFIED?
DIWC recipients will be notified via their contact information before we announce the awards.
HOW DO WINNERS RECEIVE THEIR AWARD PAYMENTS?
Winners will receive their award payments electronically via Zelle only.
IS THE SCHOLARSHIP RENEWABLE?
No, the scholarship is not renewable.
CAN PREVIOUS APPLICANTS AND RECIPIENTS APPLY?
Previous applicants are encouraged to re-apply for the scholarship. Previous recipients of DIWC scholarships are not eligible to reapply.
WHO CAN I CONTACT REGARDING GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DIWC SCHOLARSHIP?

Do not submit your application by email. All scholarship applications must be submitted online. We are not able to accept applications via email at this time.
